Designing for the Joy of Cooking: Phil’s Story
“Design is for EVERYONE!” — and at Adaptive Design Association (ADA), we take that to heart. Every custom adaptation we make begins with a conversation, a lived experience, and a need unmet by mass-produced solutions. Tamara Lights the Way
When Tamara started college in 2004, she was eager to explore life in New York City—but navigating the streets in her wheelchair proved dangerous. A light pole, an idea, and a partnership with ADA changed everything. Nearly 20 years and six versions later, Tamara’s still lighting the way… and her story is just getting started.


Standing Tall with Leon!
Leon, a bright and determined toddler with cerebral palsy, is learning to stand and take his first steps with the help of custom equipment from ADA. His progress shows the power of early support, hard work, and community care.
